Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero
Garage rock saviours Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back in full swing, everybody! Yesterday the band gave a first tase of the new material they’ve been prepping as the YYYs third full length studio release, “It’s Blitz!,” when they put out the first single “Zero” as a live stream on myspace.
The single got, evidently, immediately ripped and all over the interwebs, but what’s trully worth noting is the band still rocks like never before!
When asked about the new album’s sound a while ago, the band members said:
“Will it sound kind of like Show Your Bones? No, been there done that. What about IS IS? Is that more of the direction it’s going in? Absolutely not, it sounds VERY different from last year’s EP. Did we go back to our roots and write something closer to Fever to Tell? No looking back now silly, just full speed ahead. WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE?? Not much like anything you’ve heard from us before- DOES IT SOUND LIKE THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS??? YOU BET YOU’RE SWEET ASS IT DOES.”
Zero is certainly somewhat different, but in no way what would one call a ‘change of direction.’ It’s a lot more upbeat than Show Your Bones or the previous Is, Is EP, but at the same time, very similar to Fever To Tell. Anyway, very, very fun track – incredibly catchy, too. This is gonna be one sweet ride once it lands.
“Zero” is out February 24th via iTunes, while the album “It’s Blitz!” will soon follow on April 14th. Remember guys, download, have fun, but buy the album and support the artists when it comes out!
