In what seems to be a great step forward for the Canadians, Nickelback reported they shook hands with legendary producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange on their 6th album, which they will start working on. Mutt Lange is best known for working with metal gods AC/DC on their Highway to Hell and Back in Black.
He has also worked with Def Leppard’s landmark efforts Pyromania and Hysteria and Shania Twain, as well as Bryan adams and Foireigner. and also produced For Those About to Rock, We Salute You for AC/DC, as well as High ‘n’ Dry and Adrenalize for Def Leppard. The very reclusive Lange was married with Shania for more than 15 years.
There’s no sure date for when Nickelback will start recording, but it’s been more than three years since they released their previous work, 2005’s All The Right Reasons, which sold nearly 7 million copies just in the US.
I don’t know about you guys, but Lange is definitely something that might give Nickelback that edge that they lacked, and which many not-so-mainstreaim listeners have complained about. Also, there are some rumours that they will be releasing their new work in collaboration with Warner Bros, so all eyes on them for the moment.
