Scott Weiland out of Stone Temple Pilots

STP has apparently fired their lead singer, Scott Weiland, announcing it with a  single tweet just a few hours ago: “Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland – no further information is available at this time.” Wow.  Um, ok. The group has yet to update their site, but it’s only been a coupla hours. I guess now the question is, can STP be STP without Weiland?

Slayer frontman “excited” to work with new drummer

A while ago, I was telling you about how Slayer decided to kick out drummer and founding member Dave Lombardo. It’s still not clear if the move is permanent or just for the Australian tour, but man, seeing this kind of drama in a band like Slayer is just not cool. Following this rather blurry event, Slayer frontman Tom Araya took some time to talk about the “drummer situation”. However, he did not address Lombardo’s…

Daft Punk release new album image, much awaited return edges closer

Daft Punk have shared a new band photo online today on their Facebook page. The image, which you can see here confirms that they have signed a new record deal with Columbia, the label’s logo featuring in the bottom right hand side of the picture. Reports of Daft Punk having signed to Sony-owned Columbia emerged earlier this year, but the band kept a really low profile and little indication was really given. The French dance…

New single: Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Sacrilege

If ‘Sacrilege’ is anything, then it’s a return to the roots. Listening to it made me feel very close to the band’s early days, when the alternative trio made (if you ask me) their best music. After all, Karen O promised us a more rough-and-ready followup, similar in tone to their debut: “It’s extremely lo-fi,” Karen O told Pitchfork last month of the band’s latest effort, Mosquito. “We had a shitty drum machine, a shitty…

Justin Timberlake and Marcus Mumford work together for new Coen brothers flick

timberlake-mumford

In rather surprising news, I’ve just learned that Justin Timberlake paired up with Mumford and Sun’s leading vocalist and songwriter, Marcus Mumford, to work on the soundtrack for the latest Coen brothers movie. Now, I’ve heard of much more preposterous collaborations before, not to say I’m having great expectations out of this either. The movie itself, called Inside Llewyn Davis, is centered around the character of an aspiring folk musician amid the 1960’s bustling New York…

Led Zeppelin reunion in store next year? Robert Plant says yes, Jason Bonham discusses

Last time we checked it, Led Zeppelin members wanted a reunion, but the biggest problem was Plant – Robert Plant dismissed a reunion on numerous occasions, despite the famous O2 gig in 2008. After all the drama, after discussions of going on without the man, after the dust settled and everybody chilled, out of the blue, Robert Plant shows up and says “Hey, I’m free, let’s make a reunion!”. Well those weren’t exactly his words,…
