The 2008 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees

Yesterday, the nominees that have the honor of being inducted in next year’s Rock & Roll HOF were announced. Our of the 9 nominees, only 5 will make the cut; quoted with the best chances are [tag]Beastie Boys[/tag] and [tag]Madonna[/tag]. For a band to be nominated they had to release their first single before 1982, the year that Madonna’s “Everybody” and the Beasties’ punk EP Polly Wog Stew came out. I have to say that…

New Bruce Springsteen (feat. E Street Band) video: ‘Long Walk Home’

If yesterday dose of The Boss wasn’t enough, then sit back, relax and tune in to [tag]Bruce Springsteen[/tag] and the E Street Band’s second video, from the forthcoming Magic. If in the first video we had the pleasure in seeing E Street side by side with The Boss, in the “Long Way Home” video we barely get a glimpse. Besides a few cameos in a ragged studio and vintage recordings in subways, it’s a all…

Download: PJ Harvey – ‘The Devil’

[tag]PJ Harvey[/tag] is undoubtedly one of my favorite contemporary female vocalists, her  unpredictable vocals have always been a mystery to me. Her voice can switch from intimacy to anger as if on a hair trigger, a quality or better yet gift few artists posses and master. Now after 15 years of experience in the music industry Polly Jean released her eighth album this week, called White Chalk, in which she ditched her trademark guitar for…

New QotSA video: ‘3’s & 7’s’

Death Proof meets [tag]Queens of the Stone Age[/tag] in “3’s & 7’s” or badass sex kittens flaunt their switchblades and wreak havoc in a dangerous desert town. Any video that combines sex, drugs, fast muscle cars, exaggerate amount of violence and gore is ace in my book. Oh and add that to the tremendous cascading riffs this track employs and you’ve got a must see video on your hands.

Sex Pistols adds ‘Anarchy’ to Guitar Hero soundtrack + more dates

Fathers of punk [tag]Sex Pistols[/tag], reunited and meaner then ever have just re-recorded one of their characteristically controversial tracks, “Anarchy,” to be used in the forthcoming Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. First time in the studio in 30 years and you record for a video game. That’s bad ass. [display_podcast] On a similar note, SP have added 2 more dates to their stellar reforming string of gigs. An extra night at Brixton Academy on…

Download: Bat for Lashes – ‘I’m On Fire’ (Bruce Springsteen cover)

I instantly fell in love with Natasha Khan’s music, ever since I had a listen of her last year debut Fur And Gold. Her soft and weary voice, together with the psychedelic pop vibe her songs have, made me a instant fan, but I never though all that could fit in [tag]Bruce Springsteen[/tag] song. She repeatedly made a few cover versions of the Boss’s 1985 classic “I’m On A Fire” and I can surprisingly say…

Bloc Party beats sophomore slump

The good thing is that their site has individual blogs from Kele Okereke, Matt Tong, Russell Lissack and Gordon Moakes; the four members of the band. The bad thing is that you can learn little about the band’s activities during 2007 because, of the four, only Moakes has updated his diary since summer 2006. That does not mean that things are not going the good way for the band. Since they made it big with…

Kravitz talks about new album

His upcoming album is titled, “It Is Time for a Love Revolution,” with songs including “Love Love Love” and “Will You Marry Me.”. But his romantic side is a bit more mature and he said the album focuses on many aspects of love, and not just romantic love. “There are spiritual love songs, and social love songs, political, sad, happy and everything in between – it’s about a lot of things,” the 43-year-old rocker said…

R.E.M. with first live DVD soon

One of the best selling rock band in history, and one of my personal all time favorite, [tag]R.E.M.[/tag] is set to release their first live double CD/DVD, in their 27 years existence, in the middle of October. The footage captures singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, and bassist Mike Mills doing what they do best at a dynamic 22 track set show at the Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland, on February 27, 2005. Directed by…
