The already humongous lineup for this year’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has been updated with the addition of a few more artists, such as Chromeo, Cat Power, Zappa Plays Zappa, The Disco Biscuits and MSTRKRFT. As usual, the festival will take place between June 12-15 in Manchester, TN. Tickets can be pro-bought from here.
Grizzly Bear plays live on KCRW radio and reveals new song
The Brooklyn based quartet hooked me from the very start with their dazzling combination of harmonies, experimental hooks and various myriad of sounds. Grizzly Bear’s sophomore album, however, swept any past perceptions I had of the band and simply blew me away with its awesomeness. Yesterday the band paid a visit to the KCRW studios, as part of the “Morning Becomes Eclectic” show. Here GB played a few live songs from Yellow House and Friends…
Download: Beach House – ‘Gila’
A few years back the Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House, dazzled the lo-fi indie scene with their eponymous debut, gaining a lot of praise and comparisons. Now, this week they’ve released their sophomore record, “Devotion,” still very pretty and pleasant for the ears, but a bit more grown up then the self titled. Although most of the tracks sound a bit the same, the sensation of repetitiveness isn’t here at all, maybe because as…
Noel Gallagher sells home because of James Blunt
In what’s a nothing short of weird event, the Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher, just put out for sale his multi-million dollar house in Ibiza, because he was fed up with James Blunt, to the point of despair. One would expect something like a devious past of murders or ghost haunting to cause people sell their homes with great haste, but for Noel, the “You’re Beautiful” singer is reason enough to drive him mad, as his…
New Jay-Z video: ‘I Know’ (feat. Pharell)
American Gangster was one of the few rap albums, of the last year, that really managed to pack a punch on the scene and actually deliver. The Neptunes produced “I Know” was from the start my favorite track from the album and now that it, recently, was joined by a video, I can only rejoice. The video, directed by Philip Andelman, was made in the same dark and mysterious vibe as the song, but also…
Avril Lavigne preps colorful tour production
Avril Lavigne has a simple description for her upcoming live production: “It rocks,” Lavigne said during a recent teleconference. “It’s very much me, but just the next level. And it’s exciting because the reason why I wanted to bring in more [dancers] and I got a new band and added more players to it is because I wanted more energy on stage.” No comment here. I can take this. This could be a good thing…
Clapton heads for North Korea
As it turns out, North Korean officials have invited blues/rock guitarist Eric Clapton to play a concert in the communist state. This comes as a very big surprise, because North Korean authorities have long shunned rock and pop music, sistematically rejecting any chance of getting great singers to perform there.Ah, but there’s a catch here. Kim Jong Chol, the Swiss-educated son of national leader Kim Jong Il, is reportedly a fan of Eric Clapton. He…
Bob Dylan plans record, joins forces with Jack White
Oh man, when a titan such as Bob Dylan makes plans, you know it’s gonna be good; and when this record is going to be based on some unfinished lyrics by country singer Hank Williams, it’s gonna be great. When he also asks Jack White, Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams and other to work with him…you know it’s going to be just fantastic! As the story goes, Dylan asked a series of musicians to write music…
Tristan Prettyman says ‘Hello’
In a previous article, I expressed how much it surprised me to see the likes of Jack Johnson top the charts, with music that is nowhere near mainstream. In my opinion, music desperatly needs this acoustic/folk/soft rock genre to thrive, because it’s quite unique and distinct from what is generally sung today, bringing a much needed breath of fresh air, inspiration, and a fantastic message. Aren’t you tired of a world filled with Britney and…
Sasquatch music festival 2008 lineup unveiled
Ahh the mighty sasquatch. Such a noble, but at the same time fierce beast, who’s myth has intrigued, rather entranced, so many people, is once again making a stop at Gorge, Washington. Before you start calling me a cuckoo or something, I’m talking about the Sasquatch! Music Festival that is. The three long festival will be held between May 24-26 2008, with tickets on sale starting March 8th. The peaceful green sasquatch has also revealed…
