So in case you didn’t already have reason to doubt to the so-called facts that have been spouted off by the RIAA and MPAA in reference to piracy, lemme give you one.
There’s this TED talk wherein Rob Reid (humorously) discusses the figures cited by those two bodies for the supposed losses they suffer from internet piracy. As it turns out, the numbers are more or less bullshit.
Reid points out at the beginning that the arguments about piracy and copyright laws (SOPA and ACTA, specifically) have been emotional, not logical or factual. And in five short minutes, he uses what he terms “copyright math” in order to demonstrate just how wrong the RIAA’s and MPAA’s “facts” are.
