Billboard opens their piece by saying, “Sources tell Billboard that Andre 3000 and Big Boi are in prolonged talks to end their hiatus (as OutKast) next year.”
The pair have been on hiatus since 2007.
According to the “multiple” stated sources, the appearance would “be the start of the reunion” and would be followed by “additional festival dates” in 2014.
Problem is, it’s more or less pure speculation when you look at, ahem, official sources (or, rather, a lack thereof):
One source tells Billboard that there have definitely been ‘some conversations’ about Outkast reuniting, while another says it is ‘all systems go’ for Big Boi and Andre 3000 to end their hiatus next year. A rep for Outkast did not comment for this story, while reps for their current label home, Epic, as well as Coachella organizer Goldenvoice, did not respond to request for comment at press time.
So, no one from any part of the OutKast camp has said anything.
At this point, all we can do is hope.
