Considered by many a talented actress, unbeknownst to many, the Tony award winner Idina Menzel (those of you who follow Broadway shows religiously, will undoubtedly recognize her from “Wicked” or “Rent”) is a very talented musician as well. In the past she’s released two albums, that unfortunately didn’t get the necessary attention it deserved and decayed into anonymity.
Now, on her third studio effort, titled “I Stand” announces to be a hit record of the start of the new year 2008. To help Idina in her quest, is Grammy winning producer Glen Ballard, who greatly helped her to build a album filled with pop tunes and heartfelt ballads—intimate yet universal stories of life, its challenges, relationships and of course – the subject of love.
“For the first time in my life, I had a feeling of complete artistic freedom. I’ve wanted to work with Glen forever. He really understands musicians and provides the perfect environment for creativity. Not only did he have a deep understanding of the complexities and timbre of my voice but he celebrated my talent as a songwriter,” said Menzel.
One of the many highlight tracks off I Stand, is the anthemic new single “Brave,” a slow paced love ballad, where Idina’s comforting vocals are backed by a warm piano line. Listen to a stream of the track bellow.
