Depeche Mode‘s highly anticipated twelfth studio release “Sounds of the Universe” is out this week, soon followed by the raging fan bonanza flocking to their Tour of the Universe, while another iconic electronic UK outfit, Pet Shop Boys, is also putting out its latest effort “Yes.”
Tinted Windows is quite the interesting project, side-project actually if you analyze its members’ composition – guitarist James Iha, previously of The Smashing Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle, singer Taylor Hanson of Hanson, bassist Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne and Ivy, and Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick. The band’s self titled debut album is out this week, and after first impressions it doesn’t sound too bad at all. Here’s their first single: Kind of a Girl.
Avant-garde rockers, Art Brut, return with their third LP, cutely dubbed “Art Brut vs Satan” (Satan always wins, fools!), which should provide quite the joy to long time fans – the rest of us, though, might look elsewhere. Lacuna Coil, the infamous goth metalists, are also back with one of the most melodically interesting records this week, “Shallow Life.”
Other interesting stuff worth noting is new music from the likes of Super Fury Animals, Burning Human or brakesbrakesbrakes.
