Santa Fe natived [tag]Beirut[/tag], the one man band of Zach Condon, has just released its new website and with it a new track, called “A Sunday Smile” has been put up for download to celebrate this moment. The mp3 is of Zach’s second album The Flying Club Cub, set for October 9, an album that we’re all looking forward too, as it seems very promising. If you didn’t knew who sang it, you might think…
Deerhunter turn fourpiece again
A few days ago it was sadly announced, via the bands MySpace, that their lead guitarist Colin Mee has left the band and that they are now once again a four piece band. Apparently the reasons why Colin left the band were that the tours were a “strain on his schedule” and the what the band “stood for in the media didn’t reflect anything about his tastes or values”. The band have already played a…
Okkervil River plan huge tour
Texas indie homeboys [tag]Okkervil River[/tag] have embarked on a massive tour, yesterday night (August 30) to promote their recently released critical sweetheart The Stage Names. The tour will see Okkervil River travel across North America and Europe, for a period of three months, during witch they’ll play over 70 gigs. Dates after the jump.
New Pinback video: ‘From Nothing TO Nowhere’
I’ve been a really huge fan of Pinback, ever since their early days, when they weren’t big or anything. Time has passed and they’ve steadily grown in popularity and beards, but luckily Pinback is not one of those bands that sells out or turn overly commercial, their still playing their thing after almost 10 years now. “From Nothing To Nowhere” is their first video of their upcoming forth album Autumn Of The Seraphs, due 9/11;…
Download: Chromatics – ‘Running Up That Hill’
Many thanks to GorillavsBear for posting this amazing cover, of Kate Bush’s smashing 1985 single “Running Up That Hill”, by Seattle based noise rock band Chromatics. Running Up That Hill was always a ’80s favorite of mine, and out of all the covers that have surfaced around the years I definitely think this is the best. Ruth Radelet vocals are excellently suited to the sound of distorted harmonicas and guitar chops, the end result is…
New Interpol video: ‘Mammoth’
When you think about how complex and mind blowing [tag]Interpol[/tag]’s video for Heinrich Maneuver was, you can’t help wondering why this latest video for Mammoth is so strikingly simple. The video is all a big live show performed by Interpol on a unknown venue, as always Interpol’s energy and spirit are remarkably channeled in their live performances, in their usual impeccable suits. “Just spare me the suspense”
Good Shoes on November tour
After touring the whole of October alongside [tag]Maximo Park[/tag] the indie quartet [tag]Good Shoes[/tag] is now ready for their biggest headline tour to date, that will feature a string of dates all across the UK in November. The gig trek will start on November 11 in Birmingham’s Academy 2, after which the band will do cross country shows all around England, Wales and Scotland, before finally calling it over on November 21, in London’s Astoria….
New You Say Party! We Say Die! video: ‘Opportunity’
And if you thought the name of the band is freaky then wait till you see the video! ‘Opportunity’ is YSP! WSD! is the second video shot of their second album Lose All Time, featuring all white dressed pregnant women and kids running about a spooky empty and shallow building. Worth mentioning is Becky Ninkovic outstanding vocals on the song, pitching from dim to lowed almost immediately.
Download: Band of Horses – ‘Is There A Ghost’
[tag]Band of Horses[/tag] sophomore full length album Cease To Begin is steadly approaching it’s release date, so the band has decided it’s time to show a little love to their fans and post the LP’s opening track “Is There A Ghost”. The song can be listened and downloaded at the band’s MySpace. A promising track, with interesting indie guitar chords and signature Ben Bridwell vocals, that very much resembles their past record, sign they prefer…
New Okkervil River video: ‘Our Life Is Not A Movie Or Maybe’
I’m really thrilled Austin based [tag]Okkervil River[/tag] finally decided to make a video for this epic song, filled with melodic twists and aggressive choruses, off a, what seems, a clear winner so far of album of the year: Stage Names. As the video goes it’s somewhat confusing with frame-in-frame action, or TV-in-TV if you wish. Frontman Will Sheff enters a room number 1972 (the year his favorite poet John Berryman committed suicide), where a man…
