Wilco new album out in June!

Wilco, one of the most prolific acts of the last past decade, are apparently back on schedule new material-wise, with a new album, their eight, in the works. Our very lucky fellow journalists from Rolling Stone had the chance to catch the band working in their home-town Chicago studio, where they sampled no less than seven new tracks off the new, yet untitled, album, currently scheduled for a June release. The fine RS gentleman diagnosted…

Faith Some More?

One of my very favourite things I’ve seen on Youtube over the years was Mike Patton, giving an interview at Lollapalooza. He talks about his upcoming projects – some Italian music, and probably a record consisting solely of him gurgling on some turps, while jabbing a violin into some children’s eyes (although he neglects to mention that one) – before getting distracted by the strains of Wolfmother playing on a stage nearby. He administers a…

Muse with a new album in September [?]

OK! Don’t get too exited, since this may or not really happen, as there a lot of complications that might intervene in a studio and, most importantly, the source of the story is Wikipedia. As of February 2, 2009 Muse has already made it into the studio and begun recording at least one song for their upcoming album. On microcuts.net, a news headline has stated that the album is slated for a September 2009 release,…

Heartless Bastards with ‘Lost at Sea’ live @ David Letterman

Hailed as one of the best albums of the year, albeit 2009 just started stretching its muscles a bit, “The Mountain,” the latest studio effort from Cincinnati natives Heartless Bastards, has turned a lot of heads lately and has received a lot of critical praise. Recently, the band made a huge leap forward by making its first televised appearance on national TV, once with their performance of “Lost at Sea” live on Late Night with…

Songs of betrayal, revenge and defeat in the final album by Alice In Chains

Album name: Alice In Chains Artist name: Alice In Chains Genre: Grunge/Alternative Rock Released: 1995 Label: Columbia ZME Rating: 8/10 Website: aliceinchains.com The final full length release by Alice In Chains has often been overlooked, if not criticised as their weakest offering. Despite reaching the number one spot in the U.S. Billboard chart, the eponymous finale by Seattle’s finest lacked the bite of Dirt or the understated beauty of Jar of Flies. This collection of…

Download: Van Bondies – ‘Pale Bride’

“Oh, yes, The Von Bondies? Yes, I remember them. Didn’t their lead singer get beat up by Jack White ago. Oh and didn’t they play that ‘C’mon, C’mon’ song?” That’s how a discussion will most likely go through, when garage punks, The Von Bondies, are mentioned in discussions. Mind you, though, they’re quite a talented bunch and in pre-White Stripes hay-day, the band was considered by many one of the best hailing from Detroit. Their…

Sigur Rós Go Independent (Sorta)

Doubtlessly, the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the ethereal sounds of a Sigur Rós song is, “Ooh, that’s pretty – I wish I had some current events to digest as I listen.” Or, perhaps you find yourself reading the newspaper, scared witless thanks to the apocalyptic forecasts of war, disease and global warming, and find yourself in need of some floatingly beautiful, orchestral Icelandic rock to soothe your frayed nerves. More…

New Death Cab for Cutie video: ‘Cath’ (live on Late Late Show)

This year’s “Narrow Stairs”, by Death Cab for Cutie, was beautiful, melancholic, soothing; well damn right awesome. Actually, it’s kinda the album that got me into DCFC and turned me into a fan, so naturally I now always get exited when I get to see the band play. Wednesday, the band graced the Late Late Show with their presence, where they played a very solid performance of “Cath,” off Narrow Stairs, after a proper and,…
