NIN back to ‘discipline’ us with a new single

Yesterday night Trent released a new single over the airwaves and interwebs, titled “Discipline.” This comes just barely a month after his NIN released their most recent LP, the instrumental Ghosts. I’m a bit confused by Trent’s new strategy of releasing mass music, seeing how the band’s members are free agents, free from any label restrictions, this shouldn’t be a problem, but too much can really be too much. This can  most obviously be seen…

Porcupine Tree launch Nil Recurring

When I heard Porcupine Tree were going to release this mini-album of 4 tracks and 28:44 minutes, I thought it was going to be great. I was right. Since they’ve signed up with Roadrunner Records they’ve made wonders and achieved the success they deserved so much. Roadrunner are notoriously good at getting their acts out there and we’re happy to see such a great colaboration. About ‘Nil Recurring’ there is a lot to be said;…

New Dave Gahan song: ‘Deeper And Deeper’ (Stream)

The [tag]Depeche Mode[/tag] frontman sophomore release, Hourglass, is fast approaching and as a teaser for things to come Dave has released yet another single. After the first melancholic synth infused single from Gahan’s new album, “Kingdom,” it’s time for a more thrilling track and “Deeper and Deeper” does well to lighten up the mood. It’s sound reminisces the golden years of Depeche Mode, same aggressive sampling  and excellent synthesizers toped by what seems somewhat Dave…

Amaranth dawn of Nightwish pop era

This is a few months late but the point here is not to talk about the single itself but how the talented Anette Olzon is able to replace the almost legendary Tarja Turunen; she was asked more or less politely to leave the band in October 2005. Having listened to every track they recorded and admiring their work it is hard to not talk about that. So after about a long search lasting not far…

Beck releases latest single: ‘Time Bomb’

Yesterday, 20 August, [tag]Beck[/tag] released his latest single “Time Bomb” via iTunes at 0.99$, you can buy it from other download and retail stores starting 28 August. The old man’s still got it, and hits us with a classic Beck single, with electro vibes, annoying piano line, and a ga-ga-ga chorus. At first listen its quite annoying, but it’s grown on me now, quite fun actually, with doom’s day lyrics about ticking bombs, red alerts…
