A San Diego native, the acoustic talent Tristan Prettyman, definitely charmed from her first hello. This time around however, she’s truly spoiling us with a acoustic cover of Yael Naim’s “New Soul,” or as most of you know it: the song from the Macbook Air commercial. Even more reasons to eagerly await her sophomore album “Hello,” out April 15. [display_podcast]

Goldfrapp: ‘Seventh Tree’

Artist name: Goldfrapp Album name: Seventh Tree Label: Mute Gender: Electronica/Ambient/Pop Release date: February 26, 2008 ZMErating: 9/10 Website: www.goldfrapp.com Well who ever thought, after making one of the most sexiest, sleazy and downright shocking album of the decade, in the form of Supernature, that Goldfrapp would release such a mellow fellow-up like the duo’s latest and forth album “Seventh Tree.” Most of Alison Goldfrapp’s and Will Gregory’s fanbase was built around the previous Black…

Bob Dylan plans record, joins forces with Jack White

Oh man, when a titan such as Bob Dylan makes plans, you know it’s gonna be good; and when this record is going to be based on some unfinished lyrics by country singer Hank Williams, it’s gonna be great. When he also asks Jack White, Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams and other to work with him…you know it’s going to be just fantastic! As the story goes, Dylan asked a series of musicians to write music…

Tristan Prettyman says ‘Hello’

In a previous article, I expressed how much it surprised me to see the likes of Jack Johnson top the charts, with music that is nowhere near mainstream. In my opinion, music desperatly needs this acoustic/folk/soft rock genre to thrive, because it’s quite unique and distinct from what is generally sung today, bringing a much needed breath of fresh air, inspiration, and a fantastic message. Aren’t you tired of a world filled with Britney and…

Download: The Raveonettes – ‘Dead Sound’

The danish synth pop duo The Raveonettes are at the center of the indie/electronica scene this week, once with the release of their latest record “Lust Lust Lust”; a return to their roots, reminiscing the dirtier sound of their 2002 debut Whip It On. Fuzzy, darkish, simmering, shimmering and reclusive, Lustx3 brings back the retro girl groups from a few decades ago and surf guitar outfits, in rock’n’roll. Lust Lust Lust is out now via…

will.i.am set for cinematic debut in new X-Men movie

I found X-Men to be among the only present day movie series, that did somewhat justice to the iconic Marvel comics their based upon. I really enjoyed the whole X-Men trilogy, because of it’s dazzling special effects, so-so story line and of course the spectacular mutants, each with its special ability. My clear favorite? Wolverine, hands down; so recent news of a new X-Men movie, a prequel to the events in the original series, that…

Goldfrapp: ‘Seventh Tree’ (album stream)

It was clear from the very start, when we saws Goldfrapp’s video for its latest single A&E, that the duo have strayed a bit from the electro sound, that defined them in Black Cherry and Supernature. The same goes with the rest of Seventh Tree, Goldfrapp’s upcoming record, set for a release next week (February 26th). Some believe the record sounds a bit boring and too poppy. I disagree, I’m quite digging it actually; it’s…

She began songwriting at the tender age of 10, influenced by artists who’s music raised…

New Justice video: ‘Phantom Pt. II’

The French electro infused duo, Justice, really have a way with videos, I mean who hasn’t seen D.A.N.C.E. and wasn’t entranced? Their latest video for “Phantom Pt. II” follows the birthday party of a child, in a French family with excellent beat dancing and directing. All in all a great new video from the duo. From Justice’s critical darling debut album †, out now on Ed Banger/Vice.

Portishead unveil new album tracklist

Trip-hop legends, the Brisol trio of Portishead have recently revealed the tracklist for their upcoming third record suggestively titled… “Third.” We would’ve expected a more generic title for the first album in ten years from the band, but we’re content to name it whatever it may be, as song as we get some good new music. Third has a release date set for April 28th on Island Records.
