The 10 Most Influential Canadian Musicians

Today is Canada Day, the national holiday of North America’s other, more icy power state, and to mark the event I thought it would be fun to write a feature piece. Now, I’m not Canadian, nor I have any connection what so ever with the maple state, however some of my most beloved artists hail from there, so I guess this has to count for something, right? Bellow you can browse through a list of…

Jens Lekman infected with H1N1 swine flu virus [he’s alright, folks!]

Just got word of some pretty sad news, seems like one of the most nicest artists in the indie scene, Jens Lekman, unfortunately contracted the all too dreaded and excessively publicized H1N1 “swine flu” virus during his stay in South America. Apparently Jens felt really sick during his flight back over the Atlantic when he actually fainted, after which he was rushed to quarantine upon landing. Don’t threat guys, Jens is alright, just he won’t…

Interview with ‘Liechtenstein’

I have recently made a review of Liechtenstein’s album “Survival Strategies in a Modern World” (you can read the article HERE) and I decided that it was deserving of much more than just a review. So an interview with the girls was definitely the next step. Renée was so kind to answer all of the questions and I hope you’ll enjoy reading this band’s future endeavours, musical preferences and their personal qualities. They seem to…

Quick news thingy: courtesy of the ever-regrettable Pitchfork.com, it’s been revealed that My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James will be releasing an EP of George Harrison covers, entitled Tribute To (through ATO). Hot Streaming: The Mars Volta – ‘Octahedron’

The album art for TMV’s upcoming album, Octahedron – out June 23. A few months ago I talked a bit about The Mars Volta’s latest up and coming record, titled “Octahedron,” and how glad I was to hear that we’ll be finally dealing with a more cohesive and unitary record, seeing how supposedly the whole band is now creatively involved. Well, time’s past and we’re now only one week away from Octahedron’s release date. Consequently,…

Let’s interview the Headlights! Hello Brett!

I think Headlights do not need any long introduction anymore, as they have been one of the most active members of the indie pop scene for 5 years now. I’m sure the ones who have been listening to their music are very excited to see this. If you think that you’re in a blur, however, just take the time to listen to “Cherry Tulips” or “Market Girl” on their MySpace or look for “Get Your…

Concert Review; AC/DC in Barcelona

It was a sweet day when we decided to go in Barcelona to see the Australian living legends. So, along with game master Tibi Puiu, a few friends and a handful of whisky and tequila bottles we head out for Spain’s cultural capital. We tried to visit as much as possible there, so we missed about 15 minutes from the opening band’s show, The Answer. There was also a Spanish band before them, but I…

Wednesday Smile Jerker: Phil Spector’s mug shot

When I first layed my eyes upon this official polici mug shot of what was once one of the most saught after producers in the world, it was pretty much impossible not to exclaim in my mind – “What a cunt!” Apparently, he was denied access to his vast collection of wigs during the mug shot photo shoot, revealing his Golum shaped cranium in all its splendor. Spector has just been recently been encarcerated to…

The Raveonettes release new album demos via Twitter!

Did I happen to mention how much I love Twitter? I’m sure I have, nonetheless it never hurts reminding people how remarkable this social media giant is. Everybody’s using it. One of my favorite duos, surf rock outfit The Raveonettes have been sturdy supporters and compuslive users…
