This year’s Coachella fest lineup just went live yesterday night, and from the looks of it, it just seems worth going to. Kinda. It’s actually kinda last year’s lineup, a cool balance between big names and indie small timers. Speaking of last year, if you were a bit mad My Bloody Valentine didn’t play Coachella ’08, despite the ever revolving rumors, you can rejoice as they’ll be one of the headliners for the last day….

Paul McCartney, Eddie Vedder, Donovan, Moby, Sheryl Crow and Paul Horn, amongst others, will perform at a New York benefit concert for the David Lynch Foundation on April 4th. This just came in – Billy Powell, long time keyboardist and key player for the hard rock Southerners, Lynyrd Skynyrd, was found dead recently, in his Jacksonville, Florida residence. Death struck him at the venerable age of 56. Tour dates that were up ’till now scheduled for the upcoming months have been canceled and the following has been posted on the band’s website: “A Great Loss — Beloved Pianist for the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, Billy…
New Mastodon Art Work + new single stream
Mastodon’s new album, “Crack The Skye”, is just a few couple of week away, but, even so, anticipation grows ever unbearable, especially with the annoyingly awesome teasers the band’s promo company do. Above is pictured the official art work for Crack The Skye, definitely too abstract and packed with symbolism for all of us to fully comprehend. An impaled bear walking over the globe, two twin Tsar genies (two Rasputins, more likely), levitating a globe…
Michael Jackson’s thriller on Broadway? Gosh…
In a recent NY Times news blurp, it’s said that Michael Jackson’s epic pop masterpiece, the 1982 “Thriller,” will most likely get revamped as a Broadway musical, after the Nederlander Organization bought off the rights to produce it. According to the NYT, the whole album, along with MJ’s other smashing record, “Off The Wall,” will serve as soundtracks, while one of the most popular music video ever made will, probably, be the concept. Dancing zombies…
Unsigned band, Boxer Rebellion outsells Kings of Leon, Coldplay, etc
It’s really amazing to see one of this bands, that without any backing up and without “star flatulations” come out and basically beat the shit out of almost every other band out there, digitally speaking. The unsigned band recently released their debut album, ‘Union’, is currently at number four on the iTunes chart in the UK and even better, they top the US iTunes Alternative countdown. Pretty good for guys that pay for everything they…
New Music Monday: 19 January
It’s been a while since we’ve written a NMM post, mainly because the end and beginning of December, respectively January, have always been very blunt and poor in terms of releases. Things are shaping up again though, and this week we’ve got a few interesting artists, with some equally interesting new material. First up are the more or less justly hyped Animal Collective and their latest record, Merryweather Post Pavilion, that finally gets officially releases…

Anybody here remember the good ol’ grunge days ?? Grunge was about …well it wasn’t about anything, really, but it changed our lives and despite the fact that it didn’t last for a whole lot of time some songs will be remembered forever, in the golden frame of eternity, and the influence of grunge is ever so present in our times. We all know Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and of course, Nirvana; these guys were everywhere….

Grammy Awards artists featured on innovative promo art
A few weeks ago we reported a bit about this year’s Grammy Awards nominees, noting, among others, that the Grammys are finally stepping the game and picking up. The last two editions were disastrous, from multiple perspectives, especially ratings-wise. The nominees are a bit more relevant (don’t expect for miracles, though), the organization seems better and even the promotion process is a lot more interesting, the latest project being a cool awareness campaign, featuring various…
