Andrew Bird always struck me as an incredible songwriter, with a wide array of awesome songs spanned multiple albums, that could make even life long lived band envious. I mean, when someone releases a new internationally acclaimed album almost every year, for the last 10 years, at least, you know you’ve got true talent at your hands. Anyway, if any of you is interested in what our little Chicago troubadour has been up to lately,…
New Kanye West video: ‘Love Lockdown’ + new LP release date
Earlier today, Kanye guested at the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where he didn’t miss the occasion to premier the video for his latest single “Love Lockdown.” Tribal motives, mixed together with Ikea furniture and suit dressed Kanye (No, Kanye, you don’t dress like white people). Love Lockdown is off Kanye’s upcoming new album, “808s and Heartbreak,” who’s release was announced today as being on November 25. Just in time to rip off the Christmas charts.
New The Pretenders video: ‘Boots of Chinese Plastic’ (live on Letterman)
The Pretenders are back with a new album this week, in the form of “Break up the Concrete,” a fun, classic Pretenders record, that’s sure to delight any nostalgic punk (don’t give me any of that ‘punk’s not dead’ crap). Chrissie Hynde, which looks fantastic by the way (considering she’s in her late 50s!), and the rest of the gang stormed David Letterman’s Late Show with an awesome performance of “Boots of Chinese Plastic,” a…
Animal Collective with a new LP in January?
Last year’s Strawberry Jam was definitely yummy! Quite scrumcious, if I may do so say myself. Actually, last year was an awesome one for the AC band members, since they toured a lot, released a very well received album, while Panda Bear also released a solo record of his own, the critically acclaimed Person Pitch. Let’s not forget about the new EP, Water Curses, Animal Collective rolled out back in May ’08. Now, these crazy…
New Music Monday: 6 October
“I said maybe/You’re gonna be the one who saves me ? /And after all /You’re my wonderwal…” These are part of the lyrics that marked my adolescence, and got me into the genre defining act of Oasis. ‘Little by Little,’ I became a die hard fan and started checking out the band more. The bands last two records, however, did little to confirm their ’95-’00 stelar form they were in, when the only thing you…
Eagles of Death Metal on 2008 tour
Supporting their soon to be released record, “Heart On,” Eagles of Death Metal on tour this november, with further dates to be probably added. Interesting to see if Josh Homme will join the band on touring. They’ll be joined by The Hives as co-headliners, the opening day of the tour being on October 30th in Seattle. Other US cities to be graced by the Pigeons Eagles presence are Portland, Denver, New York or Washington before…
May God have mercy on our souls: Limp Bizkit is reforming
Fuck. It’s official, Limp Bizkit are reforming! Back in 2006, the band members went their separate ways after releasing the crappy not so well received comeback album, “The Unquestionable Truth.” Anyway, apparently the band is back together, as Durst confirmed at Limp Bizkit’s myspace. “Yes, it has been a while. But a while worth the wait. It is getting very close to time to drop the Bizkit on the universe. I say this with the…
Download: Jenny Lewis – ‘Acid Tongue’
Rilo Kiley’s previous record “Under The Blacklight,” didn’t quite deliver, not at its exceptions anyway. Sure, it had it’s moments, but they were more then shadowed by some lameass tracks like Smoke Detector or Money Maker. Anyway, Jenny’s still dear to me, no matter what crap she puts out. She’s like a button too. Her solo debut, featuring The Watson Twins, was pretty good. No, scratch that, it was quite awesome, even though it sounded…
New Eagles of Death Metal video: ‘Wannabe in LA’
I’m literally counting the days before the new EoDM album, Heart On, gets out, and this new video for the Jesse Hughes/Josh Homme extravaganza sure does hit the spot. Making it big in LA can be tough, often implying faustian pacts, but if you want a few moments of glamor, you might as well sell your soul to Jesse ‘The Devil’ Hughes. Btw, anyone notices any similarities between the video for the band’s latest single,…
New Marissa Nadler video: ‘Famous Blue Raincoat’
The umbrella and raincoat have always been autumn motifs for arists across the years. The semantics of these two words can vary from artists to artist; they can signify protection, depression (rain can do that to ‘ya) or, in Leonard Cohan/Marissa Nadler’s case, nostalgia. “Famous Blue Raincoat” is the name of Marissa Nadler’s cover present on her latest disk “Songs III: Birds on The Water,” a song originally penned by master Leonard Cohen (click here…
