In honor of, what’s probably, The Pixies’ most loved album “Doolittle” 20th anniversary, the band will head out on a North America/Europe tour where selected tracks from the album, plus B sides, will be performed. One of my favorite albums of the past year was “Alopecia” by alternative hip-hop outfit Why?. Seems like there’s no slacking within the band’s grounds though, since Why? will release a new album soon titled “Eskimo Snow” via anticon. The new album will apparently mark a change of direction in the band’s sound, as we’ll be greeted with little to no hip-hop, instead Why? preferring to adopt a more conventional indie rock approach. The North Carolina bluegrass quartet The Avett Brothers recorded an incredible Daytrotter session a few months ago, during the bands stint at SXSW. Like always in their live performances, The Avett Brothers were simply incredible, shinning thanks to their rootsy, soulful approach to music. Buddyhead just recently caught up with the Deerhunter/Atlas Sound frontman Brandford Cox and made this … let’s say insightful interview.
