Grizzly Bear were joined yesterday night by Beach House’s Victoria Legrand, with whom they also collaborated on the New Moon soundtrack, for an incredible performance at the end of Conan O’Brien’s The Tonight Show. A bit unexpectedly or not, the band played their smashing pop single “Two Weeks” Victoria handling the eerie backing vocals which simply sent a chill down everybody’s spine. Two Weeks is off Grizzly Bear’s most recent album Veckatimest out now.
Download: Phoenix vs Jay-Z vs Don Diablo – ’99 Fences’
Alright, it’s now official: Phoenix is without a shadow of a doubt the most remixed band of the year. This most recent one, penned by the talented uprising DJ Don Diablo, is an interesting mashup of Phoenix’s “Fences” and Jay-Z’s “99 Problems.” You can really sense the tight production work that went into the remix from a mile away – almost perfectly synced samples, blending the two songs together in a seemingly effortless and natural…
Hey, kids! Let’s have some fun coloring The Beatles (1964)
While I was shamelessly burning my workplace’s broadband on youtube, forums and reddit I stumbled across this hilarious Beatles coloring book from way back in 1964. It features the fab four in various scenes, like Paul brushing his teeth, Ringo showing up his bling, George tripping like hell or the whole band enjoying some tea, before commencing into storming groupies. So, grab your crayons kids and start filling ’em up! Click above for a laaaaarger…
New Basement Jaxx video: ‘Scars’
Well, you know me, I can’t resist a bucket of random. Basement Jaxx’s video for the electro duo’s latest single “Scars,” like most BJ visual contraptions from along the year, is packed with weird loops of plants, chameleons, flying flowers and really menacing looking stuff. The CGI was rendered and directed by Dutch artist Jan Van Nuenen. Off the duo’s recently released full length studio album “Scars” out now via XL.

New Music Monday: 12 October
Looks like it’s that time of the year when various holiday albums and compilations start to pop-out, much to the contempt of last minute present shoppers, retailers and record labels. This week alone, we’ve got new Christmas albums from Bob Dylan, David Archuleta and Connie Talbot coming out. One of the most interesting releases of the week is Baroness’ highly anticipated sophomore release “Blue Record.” The band’s debut, “Red Album,” was a stunning progressive metal…
New Camera Obscura video: ‘The Sweetest Thing’
Halloween came a bit early for Camera Obscura this year or should I say in a year back in the ’60s? Vintage film, weird hairdos and mustached women. Can you think of a sweeter thing? Off Camera Obscura’s latest album “My Maudlin Career” out now on 4AD.
Hot Streaming: Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, Lykke Li, Bon Iver, St. Vincent from the New Moon soundtrack
We’ve raved a lot over what an awesome compilation the soundtrack for the upcoming teen-vampire-in-love New Moon flick will make. Today, however, we can finally sample the O.S.T. and settle once and far all if the hype is justified or not. The soundtrack itself is yet to have been released, but, like it usually happens, it got leaked all over the internet recently and Youtube is packed with streams. I’ve added bellow some streams that…
The Week in Music: #40
Air just released this week “Love 2”, one of the duo’s best albums yet. Bummer. Tickets to this year’s Glastonbury Festival got sold out in less than 24 hours when they were put on sale this week. Check out this video of Thom Yorke and his live super-group band premiering some new songs at their LA intimate set. If you had any doubts about the show, know it rocked! The Backstreet Boys caught swine flu?…
Download: The Rest – ‘With Every Heartbeat’ (Robyn cover)
The Rest is a seven piece indie pop band that managed to impress a lot of people at the start of the year thanks to their sophistical pop arrangements and crafty songwriting once with the release of their sophomore “Everyone All At Once.” The album was recorded after The Rest made a couple of incursions in Ontorio’s isolated woods, where they just jammed and wrote songs from dusk till down, thus making for a non-intrusive,…
