We’ve got a whole indie extravaganza this week on our hands as a slew of hot releases are making their way into your iPods. What I can personally recommend you should pick up this week is Delta Spirit’s “History from Below”, Blitzen Trapper’s “Destroyer of the Void”, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti “Before Today”, Against Me!’s “White Crosses”, Hot Hot Heat’s “Future Beads” or, of course, Nada Surfs’ “If I Had A Hi-Fi”. As for some…
The Top Albums of The Decade: 2006
This post is part of our “Top Albums of The Decade” series. Follow the series to read about the best music to grace our ears in the 2000s. Clipse – Hell Hath No Fury (Re-Up, Star Trak) It’s a cold fucking world out there. As drug slingers or as emcees, Pusha T and Malice haven’t had the easiest of lives. That isn’t to say that either “career” is easy, but these guys could write a…

[VIDEO] Nada Surf – ‘Electrocution’
Nada Surf’s sixth studio album, “If I Had A Hi-Fi”, which is actually a cover album, will be out in less than two weeks. If your bristling with anticipation for the this latest effort from one of the few bands that can be annoyingly boring, yet strangely awesome at the same time, you’re more than invite to appetize on this recently released video for “Electrocution”, the cover of Bill Fox’s 1998 single.
The new Arcade Fire single – two new songs/MP3s!
I’ve been waiting for some tangible new Arcade Fire ever since I found out the band is supposed to release a new LP late this year. After samples of it where found in a Glassgow vinyl store, earlier today the new double a-side 12″Arcade Fire single, titled “The Suburbs/Month of May”, got played by Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, who spun each track twice. Of course, in the meantime, the tracks got ripped, leaked all over…
[VIDEO] Tame Impala – ‘Solitude is Bliss’
This year’s psychedelic sensation, the Australian three piece psych-pop band Tame Impala, have apparently rose from virtually nowhere, impressing everybody with their druggie beats, busy drums, stoner riffs – a totally narcotic atmosphere, basically. The 2010 MGMT, if you will. I had no idea this band existed until a few weeks ago when I first started reading about them on blogs, but since then I’ve ferociously digested every leak and stream I could find on…
New Music Monday: May 18
Band of Horses’ highly anticipated latest effort, “Infinite Arms” (what a brilliant cover art. don’t you think?), is finally out this week, much to the delight of millions of indie peeps in the world. We’ve posted the album stream last week, so let’s hear some thoughts regarding it. I, for one, believe it’s their best yet. Hold your band of horses for a second though, since this week also marks the release of LCD Soundsystem’s…
New M.I.A.: ‘XXXO’
Clearly on a whole different level than that of the incisive “Born Free”, this new M.I.A. radio rip, allegedly titled “XXXO” , sports a more mainstream appeal, venturing into a pop friendly sound. It’s not your typical pop, though – far from it. It’s different and tight, something that only the likes of dubstep legends Blaqstarr and Rusko, who handled the production work for the track, can deliver.
[VIDEO] LCD Soundsystem – ‘Drunk Girls’ (live @ Later With Jools Holland)
LCD Soundsystem’s highly anticipated third studio album, “This Is Happening”, is just one week away from its official release date. As such, seeing how live performance broadcasts on national television of the band were just waiting to occur, James Murphy and co. stepped by Jools Holland’s show where they simply rocked the house with their latest single, “Drunk Girls”.
New Music Monday: May 10
The National’s “High Violet”, one of the most anticipated releases of the year, is finally upon us once with its official drop this week. I’ve been streaming the album for the past two weeks now, and I can firmly say it’s definitely up to the hype. Big up! After a series of rather disappointing past releases, UNKLE is also moving out a new record, the band’s fifth actually, in the form of “Where Did The…
